Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is the greatest protected spot in Peru and the second hydrographical system of the Amazon rainforest.
This is an enormous depression in the plain surrounded by numerous rivers, lakes and marshes. In the rainy season the place is completely flooded.
There are enourmous amounts of animals living here. Some of the local species are the pink dolphin (Inia geoffrensis), the black lizard (Melanosuchus niger ), giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), Amazonian manatee (Trichechus inunguis) and the Yellow-spotted Amazon River Turtle (Podocnemis unifilis). Watch video. This is a favourite place for scientists and naturalists.
We make expeditions to the Reserve; accompanied by expert guides that show and teach the visitors during the entire trip.
We can combine the expedition with a couple of days at AA Yanayacu Lodge, for resting and relaxing after the adventure.
Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. A paradise of colours and life to visit.
